We are looking at a POSSIBLE 8a-2p slot for our ceremony/reception at the venue we like. It would be a morning ceremony and brunch reception at one location. But…8 a.m.? I’ll be falling asleep on my feet and I’m not sure everyone would make it.
With morning weddings, how is it usually programed? Do people actually stay for a whole 6 hours??? Would it make more sense to do pictures for the first hour or two, and have the actual ceremony at 10, then reception from 11 on with a 3 hour brunch? There will be no travel time. If we go with this venue, we’ll also probably be getting a DJ to MC and do music, so would he just do the reception part?

I like your second option of a 10am ceremony better or what about 9:00 or 9:30? 8am just seems too early.
I’ve been to an early morning brunch wedding and honestly thought it was AWESOME. They had a DJ but people really didn’t do much dancing. I think it was more for the bride and groom to have their dances. The ceremony started at 9:30 and after it ended we they had waiters passing out mimosa’s, I loved it. It was a buffet brunch and everything was super yummy. Because no one danced it did make for a shorter reception. I believe we were out by 1:00??

8am is very early. i think 10am is a much better start time, and a 3 hour reception is plenty of time!
we’re doing a 5.5 hour ceremony/lunch starting at 11am. we plan on having a lot of dancing.
