Hi jpals,
I know you posted this awhile ago, but I was born and raised in Savannah and am currently planning a wedding there- thought I might be able to help. Are you speaking about the Ships of the Sea Museum garden space behind the Scarborough House on MLK? That garden is GORGEOUS. We looked there but my wedding will be too big :(
If you're interested, my wedding planner has undoubtedly done something there in her many many years. Tricia Windom - you can PM me for more info if you're interested. Another place in the same area is Vick's on the River. They have an upper floor available and WONDERFUL food with a view of River Street and ships passing by.
As for catering, I love Trish McLeod ((912) 355-1600) or Nick Mueller at (912) 728-8150. My mom is a wedding cake baker, and I'd she'd be happy to share any information with you. She made Paula Deen's cake and knows most people the business.
Let me know and good luck!!
in case anyone is poking around here looking for savannah wedding info, thought i'd just leave a note to check out Back in the Day Bakery for cakes. We live in that neighborhood and love their stuff so much. And if you're thinking at all about doing cupcakes, they're defiintely the place for you, though they do traditional wedding cakes too.
Have you secured a photographer? Diana Deaver (www.dianadeaverweddings.com) takes GORGEOUS photographs and that is close to where she is located. She traveled for my sister's wedding and the wedding photos were spectacular!

Can anyone tell me anything about Ships of the Sea as a venue?
What about catering suggestions?
