I’m just curious if there are any other bees who are thinking about not doing save the dates? Also, do you really think it increases your attendance rate sending them out?
We have maybe 5 invitations that are being sent to people out of state, the rest are local. Our wedding is on a Friday night (people would not need to arrive until 6:30 or 7:00) which I’m not sure if that increases or decreases the need for STD? We were thinking of sending invitations about 8 weeks prior, is that enough time if we don’t do the save the dates?

We’re only sending STD because we have a lot of guests coming from far away (England) and would like to give them advanced notice in order to get better deals on flights. If that were not an issue, I would totally skip them.

Like the other answer we are only doing them because we have people traveling. I want to make sure we give everyone plenty of notice.
I’m keeping them simple.
I think 8 weeks notice is fine.

i think that will be fine, just make sure to spread the word about your date to the people who you care the most about being there, as you don’t want them to plan vacations or anything else they can’t get out of on your wedding date.
