I think that's still fine :o) Don't despair. You could always design them yourself and use something like vistaprint or mypostcardprinter.
Have you thought about emailing them? You can easily embed a jpg or attach a pdf. That's what we're leaning towards, because it 1) saves time and 2) saves money.
Yes - Truthfully, I think most of our out of town guests are either involved in the wedding, family or church friends so I am less concerned with the actual need for them to have the cards to mark their calendars (if that makes sense) and more worried that my friends are going to be receiving mine alongside my friends and thinking - wow, this is really late?
Am I totally over-reacting?
You're fine!!! October Save-the-Dates already? Thats 8 months away and still a little early (I'm getting married Oct 1st and I'm not sending mine out until 4 months before). Don't stress because then it will take the fun out of the planning!! I wouldn't rely too much on your friend at this time though - when will she start feeling better? does she have her own obligations to fulfill before she starts on your STD's? There are fabulous programs on line that you can do yourself - just put some time aside each day and work of them and then they will be done in no time at all! Good Luck!
My wedding is June 5th and we got our out right after the new years. Not quite the fastest, but it still worked and everyone was happy to receive them.
I think that is still plent of time to get the STD the dates out. I think they will look more at her and say isn't this a little early? If you really want to do them go ahead, it is completely up to you. Vistaprint does really fast service. I went through magnetstreet and they were pretty quick too.
Thanks Ladies ~ The proof actually came out today and they look even better than I could have imagined. It was definitely worth the wait!
You are TOTALLY fine- my wedding is July 4th and our STD cards went out last week.. :) I think you have plenty of time!
You are fine! We got engaged over Christmas and are getting married in June. I have a dislike for STD cards so we sent an email to all of our definitely invited guests with date, location, airport and hotel/B&B info about 2 wks ago with a picture of the two of use were we were engaged.

Hey Ladies -
We are getting married in July and I really wanted to do Save the Date cards since about 70% of our guests are coming from out of town. Long story short ... we have run into so many problems that they still aren't out! Our problems ranged from finding them in our price range, to waiting to have engagement pictures to include, to changing the printing company because their proofs were HORRIBLE and now I have a friend who has agreed to help but she has been sick ~ I believe we could have them out to everyone by the 24th of Feb which is 5 months prior to the wedding. Am I crazy to still send these out? My best friend is getting married in October and just finished hers ... sigh -
