We will be doing bookmarks - most of our family members and friends like to read and magnets were a bit out of our price range, so my best friend and I will be DIY-ing bookmarks with the date on it. :)

I used InvitetoFollow.com for my save the date magnets. They custom design each magnet to order. So, they sky's the limit for ideas. I just told her what I had in mind, and they came out perfectly! Better than I could have ever hoped!

I made really cool post cards with magnets on the back so folks could put them on the fridge. I have gotten tons of compliments on them because they were so unique.
FutureMrsBLT - Did you DIY the magnet STDs? I really want to include a magnet with ours (we also need to do our e pics first - doh!) but I'm not sure if I should invest in the equip and supplies to do them myself or just outsource to VistaPrint or something similar.

If there is a story behind it it will make it more unique. The Amber & Jeff "Save The Date" works so well and so appropriate because they have a theme going on.. they met in university, both are science geeks.. etc etc.. :)
You could also create a slideshow or message onto a dvd for each person. When they pop it into the dvd player they will get more information on your big day. You could include pictures of the ceremony and reception site/s, bridal party, where you are registered and more! This could be fun!

I am DIYing my STDs and I am doing the date on a ribbon - got the idea from Martha Stewart!
I added a tag with the STD invitation!

FI and I are both readers, and so we are going to do bookmarks. I have to really get into it though, we are getting married in Sept 2010 and I wanted to send the STDs out a year in advance. I wanted to get a wedding website together first though. Can't decide!
I was going to suggest the Amber and Jeff one! I am so, so in love with this idea. I really want to borrow it and make it mine!
I am doing seashell magnets since we are having message in a bottle invitations. I also thought the ink pen save the dates were nice too....something original
