@HappilyEverAfter54: If I received a STD inside a Christmas card, I wouldn't think a thing of it. Postage is expensive these days and if anyone thinks down upon you for it, then they shouldn't be your friend anyway.
@Mrs.ChubbyBunny: aww Thank you, that made me feel a lot better about the situation.
@HappilyEverAfter54: I would definitely add it in! It can only make people happier during the holiday season to think about another upcoming happy occasion!
Sure! why not? I just end up tossing the envelopes anyways so you just saved me from opening and tossing an extra one.
@pinkshoes: LOL good point!
I heard some people put the save the dates somewhere they can keep them out to remember and thought that might be a problem with a Christmas card but thats why we have calendars right?
We sent our save the dates with Christmas cards!! We had refrigerator magnet STDs inside a small envelope that was inside the Christmas card. We also put a label on the outside of the small STD envelope that said "we look forward to celebrating with you at our wedding." Overall, it was very well received - I didn't receive any complaints or criticism about it.
I fully agree with @Mrs.ChubbyBunny that anyone that looks down on you for it shouldn't be your friend anyway. :)
@HappilyEverAfter54: vista print has free magnets all the time too. I got 25 small ones for like 5 bucks shipped if you catch that promo and want to make those and drop them in there with your cards.
I don't see anything wrong with it at all. Honestly, it saves you and they get two cards for one. :)
@pinkshoes: That would be so cool... were sending these out a little behind schedule though I don't know how much longer we can hold out.
@zagora:Are you adding a different card inside or just writing it in the card message?
@HappilyEverAfter54: We're either adding a magnet or adding a mini MOO card.
@zagora: whats a moo card? I was thinking of just writing it inside. Or else adding a small business card sized piece of fancy thicker paper with it written on there.... gah, I'm still confused =/
@HappilyEverAfter54: I was planning on sending my STD with Christmas cards too! Where did you find 100 cards for a few bucks? Thanks!
I'm doing it! I have christmas cards and I'm sending my Save-the-dates with them! Save the paper/ink/stamps! :)
that's what we're doing! :)
we got business card-sized magnets made from Vistaprint (70 cents each- incl tax and shipping!!) and I can't wait to send them out in our Christmas cards to friends and family.
@HappilyEverAfter54: Ours are out! We ended up printing up 100 of these and sticking 'em inside:
I'm sending our STDs out in our Christmas cards, tomorrow! Took advantage of 100 free postcards through VistaPrint!
I put our rehearsal party invites and some shower thank you cards in the same envelope as our Christmas cards. I wasn't paying triple postage and I have received nothing but positive feedback.
You are absolutely ok writing a note, reminding your family & friends of your upcoming wedding date! Don't think twice about it. =)
Actual save-the-dates aren't always required. So, no worries!

So my FI and I came to the conclusion we can't afford save the dates but we have a few people we need to send them to. So would it be okay if we just write a fancy little save the date message inside the Christmas card at the bottom? Or would it be odd with a summer wedding and a very wintery holiday card since most peoples save the dates match their invites or theme?
Any thoughts or ideas?
*I found Christmas cards very cheap only a few dollars for 100.
