We're doing magnets for our save the dates. It's a DIY project so I'm going to have a bunch of cut-out cards that I'll be applying to an adhesive magnetic backing.

I only have so much of the backing and it's very expensive. I'm HOPING I can fit all the STDs on what I have. But if I can't, would it be bad manners to send some guests (like guy friends, who I can't see slapping our e-photo on their fridge) a card version, and saving the magnets for people who'll definitely use them?

I don't think people will care if you send a paper version to the guys who will probably end up tossing them!

try ordering free ones from vistaprints.com, you can get 25 for free and use that as your backing or customize them and send those out to those you don't want to make them for.

Gender is irrelevant. Men and women are equally likely to lose a stray card while a magnet won't get lost. If you send them to some guests, it just makes sense to give them to everyone.

We sent them to family and bridal party only. StDs are sent so far in advance, we didn't want to take the risk of (heaven forbid) a friend fallout and them still having an StD. It cut costs down, and frankly, I'm glad it's the way we went.

My FI keeps all those magnet things and he makes me leave them on the fridge for years.  So I wouldn't say it's a sex thing, I'd say it's a "who needs a better reminder" thing.

We send our save the dates to everyone but coworkers, because we were still making final decisions about who to invite.  I say as long as the whole group receives the same thing, and you NEVER talk about them in front of people (that includes on facebook!) then you should be fine...
