I’m looking into Save the Dates and fell in LOVE with a design that includes a cute hand-sketched map of the city we are getting married in – something I really want to include in either the STD or the Invite.
My question, though, is if Maps are a popular Save the Date addition or if they’ll probably just get lost?
If I don’t do it on the STD I probably wont use the map for the invite bc I want them to be a bit more formal.
But, is the map a waste because most people throw out the save the date cards??? I have no clue!

I think the map is a fun and original idea – definitely a standout against the typical card or magnet. I say go for it!
Also…have you checked out http://www.pantomimepapers.com ? She used to be an actual Bee on here, and now has her own business. I love her work, be sure to check her out.

I LOVE hand-drawn maps. We included one in our invitation suite and we got SO many amazing comments about what a great idea it was. My step-mom drew it for us. I know there are a lot of great sites out there for maps (check out etsy).

@missomally – what a nicely done map!!! I love that! You say you’re step-mom drew it? Great work!
Did you just print it on card stock from your home computer? I’m toying with the idea of making mine too but I can’t figure out how to draw it, then get it onto my computer to print. Did you just use a scanner?

Yes, we used a scanner. It worked really well. And then I just sent it to the printer along with the reply card design and they printed them on matching paper. I think they turned out really well. [attachment=663708,86387] [attachment=663708,86388]

I LOVE THEM! So was this for your Save the Date cards or for your Invites? You mentioned “Reply Cards.”

I’ve been meaning to start doing research into the lovely map sites out there, these are great. Any other recommendations, besides just trolling through etsy?

If you send the map with the invite, it won’t get lost or tossed out. It has the potential to get lost or forgotten when sent with a save the date.

There are lots of Etsy vendors that do maps, I almost hired one for my invites.
