I received my save the dates in the mail yesterday and they are SO pretty and I got a great deal on them. It was a big surprise to me that they came with an inside and an outside envelope. We want our wedding to be formal (but not stuffy), glamorous and fun (at least that is what we are aiming for). The big question that I want to put to the hive is….do I use both envelopes? Or is that too formal??? I feel like since I have them and can’t really use them for anything else that I should use them but I definitely don’t want to come across as stuffy. The save the date itself is on shimmery ecru paper so it definitely has a fun factor!
Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I say ditch the inner envelope – you don’t need it 🙂

You could always use the inner envelope for something like Thank yous or Escort Cards or even sell them to someone else.

I’d also ditch the inner envelope – your Save The Date will set the tone for your Invites and your Wedding. I like PrettyKitty’s idea of re-using them for Thank Yous or Escort Cards or selling them. I’m sure you could find another use for them or someone on ebay could 🙂

I agree with the other girls- you don’t need the inner envelope. Save it for something else!

When I ordered my STDs, they came with inner and outer envelopes. I did not use the inner. I think that is too formal for STDs.

I would ditch one of the envelopes, too, but there is one advantage to them. I sent my std’s out about a month ago, and suddenly thereafter started worrying that people will not know for for another four months that they are allowed to bring dates! An inner envelope does give you the opportunity to say "Sarah Jenkins and guest."
Anyway, that’s the only reason I could think of to use them both.

I’m in agreement with this little hive–save the inner envelope for something else. (Free envelopes!) You can make or order thank you cards or something to use with them. Or keep them on hand for future needs. I’m a stationery junkie, though, and have an entire desk devoted to this stuff, but it seems like a good gift and chance to be eco-freindly to boot!
