This may be a stupid question, but does every person you invite to the wedding need a separate save the date? We’ll be inviting close to 200 people, and am thinking about sending paper save-the-dates to around 50 or so.
We are tossing around the idea of just sending official Save-the-Dates to out of town guests, and close family/friends that would want one specifically.
Others would get an e-mail or verbal notification of the date in advance of the invitation.

I don’t think so but I’m no wedding etiquette expert though. I plan to almost do the same thing. I designed some really nice Save-The-Date Cards that will be sent to Out of Town family/friends and everyone else will get little magnets that I got at a great deal (100 magnets for $22).

@weddingdiva-in-training:Thats a great deal!! Where did you find the magnets at? I have been going back and forth with doing it because of budget reasons and the amount we need.

We did 100 postcards that we got Free from VistaPrint and went to Staples, bought magnets and added to the back of them. Total cost for shipping, magnets, envelopes, etc. for 100 pieces = $19

save the dates are not required by any means, it’s just a nice way to help your guests plan ahead. i think sending to oot only is fine! only send an email if your wedding is pretty casual though.
