We are having a very private wedding ceremony with a small handful of friends/family, to be followed afterwards by a big party/reception for everyone else. I am sending out Save the Dates and am considering three ways to do this:
1) Send the Save the Date to everyone, regardless of what they are invited to (reception only, ceremony plus reception)
2) Send the Save the Date to those only I am close to, regardless of what they are invited to (reception only, ceremony plus reception)
3) Send the Save the Date to everyone, and include a small printed note to those I am not very close to (board members, clients, colleagues) that says “We invite you to Save the Date to join us at a reception celebrating our marriage on XXX date.”
I just didn’t know if it would be weird to send a Save the Date to someone I’m inviting to the reception only that I’m not that close to (i.e. a board member) — but I know they’d get a formal invitation later.
Am I making sense?
Thanks for any advice!
