I’m just curious who has sent save the dates out. I still haven’t and I’m kind of thinking I’m a slacker! I’m STILL in the process of getting addresses together… and THEN, I’ll meet with someone to help w/ invitations.

Nope – haven’t sent any yet! Should we have? They’re not very common in our neck of the woods!

Your wedding is in July?
You are not a slacker. 6 mos. is fine for weddings with a lot of Out of Town guests–even 4 mos. is okay. Most people don’t buy plane tickets that far out (we are having a domestic semi-destination wedding and have gaged that the majority of our guests have just STARTED looking for airfare and lodging. Notice our date…) In other words, if you got yours out in mid-February, I think you’re fine.
One exception: if your wedding is international, then you probably want to get the word out a little sooner–even if it’s just a STD email, not just because of the vacation time and travel stuff, but because (and I know this from experience) you’d be surprised at how many people need a passport, which can take a long time to get.
PS–STDs are a courtesy, but they’re not a necessity, so if you don’t want to send them, you don’t have to! Just send your invite a month or two earlier than usual.

We just sent them out yesterday b/e a lot of our guests make summer vacation plans around this time. But I think it just depends on the guest list. I think you still have plenty of time.

I’m still waiting on our to come from Magnetstreet. It seems like its taking SO long but there were a couple of probs with the pics and emailing back and forth.
So far, they have excellent customer service.
I’m also still working on addresses but we are only sending STD”s to out of town guests and I have all those addresses so as soon as they get there they are out the door. Hopefully by the end of this month.

:: whew :: OK, I feel MUCH better. Whenever I read the wedding planning timelines it says to send save the dates approx. 6 months in advance… so naturally, I started to freak 🙂
We are having a smaller wedding (120-140… with quite a few being children), and the furthest people will travel is a few hours so maybe I will rethink save the dates all together.

I sent our Save-The-Date Cards out last week. I think you are fine as long as you get them out in the next several weeks. i think the earlier the better though since people start making their summer plans about this time. It is so much fun hearing from everyone receiving them!
@Divabrown9879: We used MagnetStreet also and had such an easy time with them. We were definitely impressed with the quality, value and the customer service!

My save the dates aren’t out yet, though I’m hoping they will be within the next week or so!

I probably won’t send mine out until the end of February. We haven’t even taken our engagement photos yet, and I’m using them for the Save the Dates. That gives everyone about 5 months time. I can’t wait to get the out though!

How long ago did you order them? I am curious because I just ordered my STDS through MagnetStreet yesterday. I’m feeling a little behind so hoping they won’t take too long to come in.

Just got ours out 2 days ago, most guests are from out of town. I still have a few left that I don’t have addresses for yet. I felt like a slacker too. If your guests are mostly out of town they say it’s actually supposed to be 9-12 months when you get out your save the dates so I was stressing that mine weren’t out yet. I did mine right on shutterfly, very inexpensive, very easy to do and because I bought my dress at David’s Bridal I had a gift card from them.

We sent ours out at the beginning of last week. We are having a domestic destination wedding. All but about 7 guests will have to travel.
There are also other weddings in my family this year and I wanted to space out everything so I didn’t steal anyone’s thunder.

I sent my save the dates out in October of 2010! Most of our guests are from out of state and I wanted to make sure they booked their hotel rooms ASAP as our location is a big tourist area in the summer. And so far 61 rooms have been booked inside our wedding block at the inn we are getting married at!! woohoo!!

We’ve sent ours out and pretty much everyone has gotten them. I think I sent them out the week before last.
