I plan on sending mine in January or February, but I'm getting married a month (almost) after you. I don't see any harm in sending them at this time of year.
I plan on it!! I am waiting for our Save the Date Magnets from VistaPrint and I have the Christmas Cards ready to go! And we'll be sending them out!
We thought it would be the perfect time to send them!!! =] Sharing the new and joy!
Hi Entangled, we're date twins and I just sent mine out today... so I think the timing is great!
I sent mine out last year around this time. Many people did not get them or got them a lot later than others, which caused some people to think they weren't invited. I got a lot of them back due to small issues with addresses, which our mailman told us the post office would have corrected instead of sending back at any other time of year, but due to holiday cards and packages they are over loaded and don't have time. In hindsight I would have waited. I ended up resending 15 to folks who never got them.
I'm handing/sending mine out now for a wedding in a year - but thats bacause half the invitees are going to have to plan a MASSIVE trip in order to come, and i wanted to give them as much notice as possible. I think a year is quite a long time when people will only need to travel locally, but for us it made sense. No issues with postage yet - i'm watching it carefully!
@shoemaven0917: Oh, exciting! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one.
@mwitter80: Ugh, that sucks... though this is probably the only time of year I'll even find out if people get them or not because we'll be seeing so many of our out of town guests over Christmas.
We're also giving a little extra time for people to plan because we're having a west coast wedding, but our families and many of our friends live on the east coast.
@mwitter80: Eeek that is scary! I'm planning on sending mine out this week and I really don't want to wait because my wedding is in May and I'm cutting it close for STDs as it is. Now I'm worried!
@riley jane: I did have a lot that were traveling across the country. The one's that were going the farthest were the one's that had issues. We're in CT the one's that went to Georgia, Texas, and California I had to resend. If yours are closer it may not be as big of an issue.

Just put the save the dates in the mail yesterday! Exciting stuff!
Now I am curious if anyone else is sending / has sent their save the dates this time of year. I see a lot of people mentioning waiting until January to avoid having them arrive during the holiday season, but since we're heading back east where most of our guests live around Christmastime, we wanted the STDs to get there before we did.
Did anyone else send their save the dates (or invites or anything else like that) between Thanksgiving and Christmas?
