I already have my STD's and gave them out to family since travel is involved. Im waiting to give them to friends and whatnot since stuff can change, I also intend to get the matching invites. I have a ton of crap bookmarked and bought a few other things since the bulk of the spending will happen closer to the day. I'd rather spread out the spending.
Oh my colors are black and white, no accent color.
i've been thinking about my save the dates (i still can't get used to typing out STD's without feeling awkward LOL) and i know the design i want; not much else past that though. i figure i'll wait until a year out to start really diving into heavy planning. haha.
and for right now my colors are dark purple, dark turquiose, black and ivory..sort of a woodsy romantic, midsummer night's dream theme.
As soon as we get the magnets (ordering them this week!!!! YAY!) we'll be mailing 'em out. Some of the invites will probably go soon after (like a week or so) because of traveling and stuff. But those will be a VERY select few people.
We've already got the color, theme, and the invites designed and printed. :)
Since I'm DIYing all 225 of my invitations & STD envelopes (we're doing magnets but putting them in a hand-made envelope), I've already gotten started on both. I'm in my 3rd year of medical school, so I don't have a lot of free time anyway, but I want to get my STDs out by early next year because our date (December 15) is so close to Christmas.
Our colors are black, white, and dark red. Our reception venue is in the ballroom of a historic hotel with a very 1920s feel, so we're kind of running with that. Since it'll be Christmas season, the hotel will be decorated with greenery and white lights, so there will be a semi-Christmas feeling, too :)
@armychica06: I started making my own. We went to a paper wholesaler, we got ivory cardstock with a pearlized border. We then sent our invitations out to printers and then when they came back we tied ivory satin bows around the top. They look very classy and were very cheap. About $26.00 for the cardstock, ribbons, and envelops.
@armychica06: I made mine already :) I thought you would like to see... Love our Military men :)

Is anyone ordering their save the dates/invites? :) I'm looking for suggestions where to find nice wintery invitations (think snowflakes and sparkle), as I'm really not a DIY person and the idea of making my own invites stresses me out.
Also I'd love to see your invites for Dec weddings, whether self-made or ordered! :)
I have ordered and already sent my STDs out, with a NYE wedding I wanted to get them out asap. I put website info on the back of the postcard
Invites, but the RSVPs are now a muted green with a fabric rosette (the envelope was unmailable/too small).

We have both our STDs and invites order and in hand, but we're not sending out our Save-The-Dates until we get our engagement pictures. I'll post some pictures soon of ours. We got our STDs from Momental Designs (for free thanks to a contest from the Bee!) and our invites are from Vistaprint. We don't have our full invite suite printed yet, but the invites themselves are printed.
we are probably going to send ours out 9 months ahead of the wedding. in march. wedding dec 1.
we are just emailing the std's, but are going to print the invites.
I want snowflake shaped ones... kinda sparkly white ones with silver writing. But cannot find any!!
We recently sent out our save the dates! I'm lucky enough to have a good friend that is a graphic designer. She designed the magnets and then we had them printed through vistaprint. I made a paper trifold to hold them and closed it with ribbon and a custom monogram sticker (also printed through vistaprint). I'm pretty happy with how they turned out :)
@MrsNeutrino: That is so cute- very original. i am the one that is in the military though- so my FI loves his Army Chick.
This is our Save the Date (I really can't call them STDs...:)) I ordered them from 123print.com
I got about 90 magnets for $60
We just need to order the save the date cards, which we will do in a couple of weeks as to have them out by April 15th (8 months before the wedding).
We haven't even started looking at invitations yet.
@amandasf: hi date twin! can't wait to see your save the dates :)
