I don’t know what thread you are refering to, but I definitely don’t think that “bronies” are pedophiles! My FI and I watch our friend’s daughter once in while, she’s four and LOVES My Little Ponies. We have to have it on even when doing other activities, even when she’s not paying attention to it! I will say that FI and I both found it strangely engrossing. It does remind me a bit of cartoons I watched growing up, and I like that  it is generally respectful, and is silly without being obnoxious. I think it’s one of the better cartoons out there for kids today! FI definitely gets teased once and while for being a bronie. He got a little too into the “royal wedding” episode. LOL.

That’s such bull. So what if a grown man likes a cartoon. My DH watches cartoons sometimes but that’s because he thinks they are funny. Cartoons these days are better then half the shit that’s on TV now a days.

@Chrysoberyl:  It’s sad. Some men I’ve talked to are afraid to show affection towards their kids in fear they would be looked at as a pedo.

@Chrysoberyl:  Ew, I just saw what post you’re referring to. That’s just asinine, in my opinion. What a freaking extreme, to go to PEDOPHILE. And if that chick has ever watched the show, the humor is actually much more adult than child, in my opinion. So stupid.

I am glad you agree. That post really bothered me, as my response showed. To assume people’s “odd” interests are due to abuse or issues with sexuality is ridiculous and offensive.

@Chrysoberyl:  Does archer count??? I never knew what the name meant “Bronies” …so I didn’t click on the thread but I did see it.

I don’t understand why watching cartoons makes you a ped???

@Chrysoberyl:  Totally just read the post you were talking about. ALOT of those bees went overboard with being so judgemental. Sad really.

FI was once approached by a tearful little boy in a bookstore because the kid had lost his dad. FI walked around with him but didn’t want to hold his hand or pick him up for fear of what people would say/do. Two summers ago, he and his best friend (woman) took his niece to Disneyland, and he said as much he loves his niece that he wouldn’t have gone by himself with her. While they were there, some little girl came screaming out of a cave-like walk through, and he was the first grown up she saw. He motioned for his best friend to come over, and she helped the girl find an attendant.

It’s a sad world we live in sometimes.

I used to love MLP as a kid and when they brought the show back I jumped on the bandwagon. Watching it is like pouring a pixi stick into your brain and wrapping yourself in a blanket of rainbows. It’s really good to make a bad day better. Lots of people are really judgemental about it though!

@Chrysoberyl:  It’s just ridiculous to call someone a pedophile for any other reason than that person actually being a pedophile. It’s not an accusation that should be thrown around lightly! Some people buy into the idea of very very rigidly defined gender roles and expectations. I guess these people are so completely inflexible when it comes to gender roles that they can’t possibly imagine a grown man enjoying something marketed towards little girls, so they think that pedophilia is the only possible explaination. It makes them uncomfortable and I feel sorry for them. It’s really sad, and I’m so happy to be in a relationship where those roles are fluid
