(the pic is sideways..im using my cell!) So today was my first appointment with my obgyn since getting my positive test at home this past sunday! Right away they had me go into sonogram and they did the internal scan and there it was…heart beating and all. Such a crazy experience, me and hubby were blown away…so based on the measurement I am 6 weeks and 5 days.. est. due date is july 25th….still feels surreal! My dr prescribed me zofran for nausea, any other ladies take that? I’m getting excited! Next visit is in 3 wks..xmas eve. Do most doctors give an rx for prenatal vitamins? My pharmacy only got a script for zofran so I don’t know if if i was expected to buy otc…I called and left dr a message . Anyways, I hope to be on here and talk with you ladies more often!

Yay for hearing heartbeats! I just loved hearing their heartbeats. It was truly amazing.
Be careful with the Zofran, it causes a lot of constipation. I thankfully never had to take it, but my co worker did and she did not enjoy that side effect.
My doctor prescribed me prenatals since a few pharmacies in the area will provide them for free with a prescription. Maybe check that out? If not OTC ones are good, just make sure they have DHA in them or get a DHA supplement.

@Hippos: hmm definitely not a fan of constipation…thanks for the heads up! I was thinking a prescription would lower the cost for me for the pre natal vitamins…so ill hold off until tomorrow when she gets back to me…I’d rather save the money if posdible!

zofran does work. i’ve been prescribed zofran for other reasons, and i find that making sure i eat extra fiber (fiber one bars are great), it can offset the side effects of constipation.

@colorofmyheart: thank you! I normally take in a lot of fiber so hopefully ill be okay, but a little extra won’t hurt. I’m happy to hear it works though, I’m sick of feeling perpetually hungover haha

Congratulations! There’s nothing like that first glimpse of baby, is there?
I took Zofran for two months. It saved me. I lost 13 lbs in my first month of pregnancy, and taking zofran stopped the vomitting and the weightloss. I haven’t gained much yet, but I am out of the first trimester and no longer sick all the time. If you need it, take it!
You do not need a prescription for prenatals. Over the counter prenatals are just fine, but make sure you start taking them soon if you aren’t already.

@goldlt83087: So exciting! Congrats on your healthy little one.
Pre-natals are over the counter and you can pick them up at a local drugstore, Target, Walmart etc. I would highly recommend Nature’s Made Pre-Natals with DHA Softgels (about $15.00 per bottle of 60’s). They are a reputable brand and have the best dosages for the required nutrients including DHA for baby’s brain and eye development. It is what I am taking now for my little peanut. 🙂
(PS I happen to work int he dietary supplement industry so you know I wouldn’t lead you a stray!).
