this groom???? The one with Lisa, John I think is his name, was kind of conceited... "everyone compliments the clothes I pick for her."

UGH! Not liking this this episode.

@honeybun: I was at the Gucci store in NY and they were selling plain white tshirts.. that looked exactly like a Hanes tshirt.. but for like a million times the price.

I bet anything he's wearing a "designer" white undershirt since he's such a fashion snob ;)

No offense to anyone, but I just will never be on the "have the groom help choose the dress" train. I want my man to be surprised!

ALSO, I have to say that although that guy seems to be conceited, some sisters and mothers on the show are SHAMELESS. I've seen episodes where the mother openly criticizes gowns that clearly her daughter LOVES. And rude sisters seem to be another trend on the show.

One thing I have learned from this show is this: when I go dress shopping, I am definitely going with a small group, not an entourage.

I agree. He was awful, but my FI and I were just discussing how awful some of the Moms are and how I thought I was the only one with a Mom like that. The Moms on SYTTD are so cruel and unsupportive. They are way worse than mine!

I can't imagine taking my FI with me, but I do know he will love my dress regardless!

Some of those people are just awful!

The first thing I thought when I saw John was "G-A-Y"!!  I am going to be mean for a minute here, so I apologize in advanced if I offend anyone right now.  But that marriage is going to end in divorce..either he will come out of the closet or bc they will get fed up with each other bc she is so dependent on him.

And now I'm going to be catty (meeeooow hiss hiss!!) what is up with his neck/shoulders? They just seemed off from the rest of his body.

Aw I kinda like when the grooms come with... I think it's really sweet as long as they're not obnoxious, but then again I'm not big into surprises and consequently don't think it's a big deal if my dress isn't a surprise to him.

@hawaii my fiance was watching with me and he turns and looks at me after the comments john made about the rouching (sp?) dress and says... GAY! I loled... I mean, they did seem very disconnected. And I wanted her to get that dress so badly!

Also, yes, I didn't like the dress Stacy's friend ended up with. :( And the girl who was shopping for the mermaid dress that randy tried to help... God bless her, she seemed sweet but honey those types of dresses aren't made to flatter plus size girls like us!

ahahaha- the only reason i like working friday nights is because i would be watching tlc anyway, and that way i have an excuse to be sitting alone on a friday nights.

that girl with the pink trumpet is a FOOL. no, doll, it doesnt make you look taller.

and the boyfriend, john . . ... seemed a nimrod if for no other reason than that line about everyone compliments her clothes because of him.  i will say he is confident, and i do not think he is gay, but certainly very metro.  i guess it is good to an extent, but this was her dress and he didnt even check her for her opinion before he shot it down. .. . he should listen to her before he opens his mouf

ps: she had already said she wasnt sold on the dress (tulip) but he didnt know that!

Now i don't generally watch the show , but  i saw a few episodes , now i am not opposed to having my honey with me , but first off , he would BALK at this ..lol..I had to force him to go to a wedding show , so that would just NOT due..lol..Plus he knows my style anyways :) We have similiar taste.

I didn't see this current episode, but i did see a few that i just didn't like ..there was 1 bride that fell in love with the dress , but her MOH sucked and just didn't approve of it , and it looked wonderful .. The bride was just soo upset at her ..she ended up coming back later with HER MOM ..instead and she bought the dress SHE liked ..

And another episode were the 6 girls were forcing their friend to buy a dress THEY PICKED out off the damn shelf ..and the bride tried it on ,and it SUCKED ..LOL and she told them that ..eventually all but 1 of those girls went along with what the bride wanted ..and that 1 girl that was a total BIATCH.. was family ..

and Another one were the mother was getting married and she didn't get the dress because her daughter didn't like it ...Hey if ur mother has it , let her flaunt it .. What is wrong with pple ..seriously ..

first off ..if i had that daughter..i would of had a long talk with her.. and the other girls DON'T CAVE IN JUST BECAUSE ITS NOT WHAT EVERYONE ELSE LIKES OR WANTS FOR U ... Sorry if i'm just going off , but i hate pple that have NO CLASS OR RESPECT ..the bride choice u to be there with her, the least u can do is be kind about it .. I'm sorry if i'm ranting ..i can't help it .. Anyways , i'm done for now..lol

i don't like most of the people on the show. not fun to admit, but i like to watch it because it makes me feel so much better about myself and my dress buying experience! the mother/daughter relationships are usually horrible, and the friends are always telling the bride their opinions too much. that groom was quite a jerk though. he had nothing positive to say to try to tell them what kind of dress he would have liked to see. the other groom in the episode was at least helping.

When the poor girl kept saying, "I could never make a decision without him!" you just know there's trouble in paradise. It's like she's his dress-up doll and he just molds her into what he wants people to see on his arm. Ugh!

I wonder if he hadn't helped her pick a dress, if she wore one he didn't like and it was a surprise, would he tell her? Seems to me like he would. Yuck!!

I can see her getting to the altar and him saying something nasty.

@Arizonabride:  I thought the same thing.  She seemed totally co-dependent and like she didn't have a mind or opinion apart from her gay fiance's!  I don't have an opinion in general about the FI helping to get the dress, but overall I would say of the three couples profiled, all the guys did not seem supportive.  The dynamic of the couples was totally that HIS opinion was the only one that mattered, and I can't get down with that.

There was another episode last night with a woman with long blonde hair who was shopping with her young daughters and step-daughters-to-be and she made some comment about how she had dressed as a prostitute for Halloween.  WTH?

This show is too much sometimes!Undecided

I didn't find John nearly as obnoxious as a lot of the other people that brides bring with them that are shown on the show...honest yes, but not particularily mean. (Unlike say, the twin sister that hated everything and just wanted to leave?)

"Honestly no guy really knows what rouching is let alone hates it with a passion!"

My fiance knows what ruching is and hates it :O (As do I for that matter, on me anyway).

"When the poor girl kept saying, "I could never make a decision without him!" you just know there's trouble in paradise."

I've said the same thing...and I don't think that means there's "trouble in paradise".  Yes, I should like my dress but I don't want to spend a lot of money on something that my fiance doesn't even like.   Obviously he'll think I'm pretty no matter what but I'd still rather it be a dress he likes...

Plenty of people aren't comfortable making a decision on their dress without their mom being there(or whoever), I didn't see this as any different...

Also, I didn't interpret the comment about picking out outfits for her as he picks out -all- of her outfits....just that he -has- bought outfits for her and people have liked them so he obviously isn't clueless about fashion.

I like the show if only to see some different designs and styles. My own daughters were so easy and so decisive when it came to their dresses, our experiences were quite a lot of fun! It helped to have someone (the shop owner) who's been in the business for a long time to actually listen to what they had in mind.  Neither got gowns they thought they wanted,but...I would have had no problem expressing to them what I did or didn't like about their choices. Even if I never said a word, they'd know how I felt by the look on my face.  :P

I often wonder why you think your own Mother would want you to buy something that didn't flatter you in the least, without speaking up? Who else would want you to look fabulous on such a special day if not the person who's been around you your whole life?  Of course it should be something YOU love, but if it doesn't look all that great or accentuate your most positive features, why would you want to wear it? You'd rather have your way and moan about how you look once you've seen your pictures? Or wonder why nobody told you beforehand that your boobs were falling out or your rear end looks a little (um) large?

I'm not sure I'd be a good wedding consultant. To make a sale I'd have to never say a word or try and steer the brides to different styles that I know won't flatter them? Don't think I'd last a day!

Now I don't feel so bad about thinking he might have other preferences in a partner..I did feel bad for her tough...She wanted him to like what she liked, but it looks like she may end up getting a dress she doesn't like just to please him.

As for the other bride....I really was not a fan of the sheer lace on the dress....Not for my taste anyway, it was a bit too much!

Calling him gay is a little judgmental. I agree he was a totally jerk face though!  Where was Randy when all this was going on I would of liked to see John and Randy get into that would of been hilarious. Also it was pathetic i cant make a decison with out him omg!  Plus with the big bride  I would trust Randy's opinion on the dresses. Myself being a fat bride I need a Randy!!!

Another thing i don't get is the moms and the brides. Its your wedding get the dress you want and mom if you see your daughter loves that dress be happy for her.
