I watch a lot of Say Yes To The Dress. We have the On Demand thing for cable, and they just added basically every episode ever. So, um, maybe I watched a lot of them, ok?
But I am just really STRUCK by how, even on the low end, budgets never go below $2K.
I just watched one where a girl had a $24K dress on, and her parents negotiated it to like $16K if they bought the sample.
My WEDDING will cost less than $16K!
FI and I do okay – really! I’m in medical device sales for a fortune 100 company… FI is in upper management for an offshore company, so he is definitely the main breadwinner, and I pick on him and say that he makes a gillion dollars, which he doesn’t, but bottom line, he does well. So combined, I think that we are beyond fortunate!
And 2K for a dress still seemed outrageous to me! I bought my dress on preownedwedding dresses.com. I got a Vera, granted, but the girl before me paid like $6K, and I got it for $1400. Plus $300 in alterations for a total of $1700 for a Vera Wang dress.
I had tried on a Marisa gown initially for $2100 that I loved, but I would never freakin’ pay $2100 before tax and alterations. I’m sorry!
Am I just a cheap-ass? I see girls on Say Yes To The Dress much lower-income jobs/careers, and they’ll say “My budget is $5K.” And I just don’t get it.
Anyone else think that regardless of income, that’s kind of outrageous?
