Under what circumsances are you getting Married / Who is marrying you ?

Cause it is considered Etiquettely Correct to invite the Officiant to your Wedding Reception… (with Spouse if they have one)

This “Religious” person is then politely asked if they wouldn’t mind saying a few words / Grace

PS… They normally are seated at the table with the Parents of the Bride & Groom.  And they usually make their exit before the “party” portion of the event (after the Cake is Cut)

Why don’t you or your FI do it?

We invited our priest to our reception, but he was unable to make it, so DH welcomed everyone and did a short blessing before dinner. it was very nice.

@mu_t:  We had our Pastor say a blessing. Essentially, she just started off by saying what a blessing it was that two families can come together to celebrate love. She blessed the meal, company, and day overall.

@mu_t:  We don’t have a “grace” per se. We are also non denominational christians (by we I mean FI, his family and I, my parents aren’t christian). We just naturally pray giving thanks, no specific words or anything.

I’ll have two masters of ceremony in my wedding, one is a christian, one is not. Grace will be said by the christian MOC, of course. But it will be something simple.

If you want to make something special maybe your dad can mention her before giving grace, something like: “We fondly remember _______, her love for God and for us tonight. And with her in our hearts we pray today to give grace for this beautiful day and the food we are about to eat…”

Or something hehe.

BUT I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU! Our God is so faithful! 😀

To @mu_t: Thanks for the UPDATE…

That is WONDERFUL News.

When you said “They’re looking out for me”

I clearly took the THEY’RE as the Angels… (Your Aunt) and God.

Clearly your Wedding Day will be Blessed… cause someone brought it all together for you / your Parents to find those “precious” written words.

@mu_t:  First off, so sorry about the loss of your aunt.

Second, if your officiant is invited, he/she can do it.  If not, someone else may be willing to do it.
