I was super athletic in high school and have some scarring from surfing and other extreme sports during which I probably should have been more cautious…
ANYWAYS, anyone know of a good scar removal cream I could use on small scars on legs and stomach? I would like to try that as they are not major enough to really think about laser treatments.

I never tried it, but I heard good reviews about Mederma.

It’s not a cream but I’ve used ScarAway and it works pretty well for scars that aren’t super deep, but even those are more faded (they are just too much for anything besides maybe laser surgery). It’s a silicon patch that you wear for 12-23 hours a day. I don’t know if that would work for you.

Just picked up the Mederma at Wal-Mart while I was getting groceries… hope it works!

All topical scar treatments (creams lotions and whatnot) have very limited success.
If you want to actually help them, plastic surgery is your best bet. Lasers, steroid injection (localized shots soften scar tissue) and other options are available. Depends on what type of scar, how old it is, how well your body heals.
Also, something interesting to check out is something called Acell. I believe it’s a newer product that helps your body regrow it’s own tissue, instead of scar tissue. Yay for stemcells!
I’m not sure how available it is…but its worth looking into.

Bio-oil has helped me with some small scars on my arms.

A cheaper alternative is vitamin E. Buy the capsules (I get them at Whole Foods), stick a sterile pin in one side and pinch out the goo. Put it directly on the scar every day…it really helps!
