How many weeks are you estimated to be based on your last period?

I am surprised that they didn’t try and look at your tubes and ovaries to rule out ectopic.  Although if it is too early, even that can not show up until later as well.

How far along did you think you were?  I am really hoping for your sake that it is just too early to see anything.  Did they try and do a transvaginal ultrasound to see if they could see more?  With me, they couldn’t see anything from the outside but when they went inside they could see the sac and the embryo, it was because my uterus was tilted.  They told me I was just not as far along as I thought I was, but deep down I knew that it wasn’t true.  I had been TTC and knew when I ovulated.

I know how stressful it can be to not see what you expected on an ultrasound.  It is just the worst.  I am hoping that everything will turn out ok!  Keep us posted!

@michelleleelane:  According to that you are only 6 weeks.  I wonder if it’s just too soon to see anything.  Especially if you have a tilted uterus.  I hope other bees have other advice for you. Also was the u/s abdominal or transvaginal?  Did you drink 32oz water hr before hand? I had a ad one at 8 weeks and after drinking a ton of water and being made to wait until it ALL hit the bladder it took a few minutes for her to find mine.

hi there. I had my first ultrasound at what we thought was 7w3d. after the ultrasound they realized i was only 6w3d.. and this is my ultrasound picture. They did an abdomen scan first and saw it, but knew they needed to go vaginal to get good measurements for dating so they went vaginally.

My OB wanted to wait until hCG was 10,000 to do an ultrasound because she was confident she’d be able to see something then. Hang in there, I hope your next appt gets better results!!

I am so sorry you are having to go through this, how stressful.  For reference, I had an early u/s done at 5 weeks 3 days due to spotting and they were only able to see the gestational sac and what they assumed was the start of a yolk sac.  My levels were also taken that day and were 6500.  They did a followup a week later and saw the baby.  I have a tilted uterus too so they haven’t been able to see anything yet with abdominal u/s.  If you are estimating you are 6 weeks along, it seems possible that you may have ovulated a bit later and at 4.5-5 weeks I don’t think they would necessarily be able to see the sac yet.  Have you had your blood levels checked over a couple of days to see if they are doubling appropriately?  Hopefuly you just have a late bloomer in there.

I agree that I would ask them to keep checking your hcg to make sure that it is rising healthily.  I have my fingers crossed for you!
