- Wedding: June 2014
I have been really excited about the venue that we’ve been looking at. We thought of it on a whim about a month or two ago, met with the sales lady about a week later, and have been planning our wedding around that venue ever since. I like the venue a lot but I have a few concerns:
The sales woman told us that they would be completely flexible regarding all of the details but every time I made a specific inquiry she kinda …shut it down i guess. That happened a few times which has just been really frustrating. She hasn’t made it seem like the venue is willing to work with us. For instance: I mentioned that there seemed to be an issue with a lack of lighting at the reception site and asked for a suggestion about how most people handled it her response was “what you see is what you get, if you want to change something that will be your responsibility.” She didn’t offer any suggestions or seem to care about the fact that whether or not I have you know.. light at my reception might be sort of a make it or break it issue. Another example is that she said that all setup related details would be handeled by the venue unless it was like arranging bouquets or something. However, when I asked who would be responsible for setting up strings lights or something if that is something I wanted to do she said I would be. So its frustrating because there seems to be a lack of connection between her sales pitch and the reality and these are things that I cannot really see technically fitting into a contract.
I am someone who really cares about the details quite a lot. Those are the things that will affect whether or not it is the right choice for my wedding and this is a huge choice. But now I have the money to make the despoit and its time to commit. We love, love, love the venue if they are as flexible as she said. We like it a lot anyway if they’re not but I feel it will be a frustrating journey in that case.
Has anyone else experienced this fear to commit to a venue? How can I feel good about putting in my deposit? Any advice?
