texaslemon:  What are you doing between 4 and 4:45 that you couldn’t do a first look?

when are you doing photos?

here was my rough schedule. Keep in mind that my husband and I each had 6 BM/GM. So there were 14 people in our wedding party and 8 girls to get ready with the hair and makeup people (includes moms). We had 1.5 makeup people (one left halfway thru to go do another bride) and 2 hair people. So there were always 3 or 4 girls getting done at once (45 mins per hair or makeup appt).

8:30am – girls start hair and makeup at hOtel.

11:30 – photogs arrive at girls hotel.

Noon – boys start gettin ready at apartment.

12:30 – girls leave hotel to drive to venue (20 min drive) (one photographer goes with girls, one goes to shoot boys at apartment).

1-1:30 – girls take photos at venue

1:30 – boys leave apartment to go to venue

1:30-2:00 – bridal portraits

2:00 – first look

2-3 – bride and groom pictures

3-4 – bridal party picutures

4:30 – ceremony starts.

Another thing was that our venue was a huge botanical garden so walking around it to photo spots took some time. I was happy and calm the whole day, but even with this roomy schedule, we didnt have any down time And were rushed.

Good luck!

Is there a reason that you want the photographer to stay until 10:30pm? After a certain point, dancing pictures are all the same. If the photographer arrived earlier, you could move up your getting ready photos and take all of your photos before the ceremony. My timeline is similar to yours, and that’s what I’ve decided to do.

I would bump up your getting ready time and skip having photos of it. The first look photos in light are way more important than a bunch of shots of a dress hanging from a hanger, you know?

I don’t think you need lots of getting ready photos, have your hair already done, and go second last for makeup (just in case time runs out you don’t your makeup to be rushed) Have you asked what an hourly rate would be to extend the photographers time? Mine included 10 hours coverage and we were debating paying longer to get our sparkly exit photos and she told us it was $100 per hour extra which I think is reasonable for an entire extra hour (considering she was high end and we paid $3650 for 10 hours, that essentially works out to $365 an hour). It might be worht checking into, even that one extra hour gives you lots of time for first look photos!

Here was our timeline! Everything was literally perfectly on time, and we were not rushed at all, it was such a relaxed day!

texaslemon:  We paid the photographers for 9 hours but they were amazing and stayed at least an extra hour without charging us. So from 11:30am to 10:00pm-ish. Maybe you could get a friend to shoot the sparkler exit and move your photography start time up? Its just too bad because IMO there is really nothing for them to shoot other than a few dancing action shots after the first dance.

raspberrymojito:  This.

Can you get a friend to either shoot the sparkler exit, or the getting ready stuff? In my dream world, I’d have the photographer take photos of the entire day. Since that’s not happening because I don’t have that much money, I’m thinking of asking my cousin to take photos of us getting ready (he’s pretty talented, it’s a big hobby of his). And ditto to the fact that dancing photos all pretty much look the same. The sparkler exit is cool, but is it more important than having the photographer there earlier for first-look photos?
