I’m not the biggest fan of form poems, but they can progress. It’s not just about placing the same two lines somewhere else in the poem, as it affects, the flow/narrative of the piece.

This sounds like this is a villanelle or pantoum? I think reading some examples would help. Go to the Poetry Foundation, the Poetry Society, or the Academy of American Poets site and read some examples of these poems. Study how authors have progressed these repeated lines in the past. Remember, they don’t have to be exactly the same. There is still some leeway to changing the lines in slight, subtle, or sometimes not so subtle ways.

As far as having the creativity sucked out of you, yes, I understand. I’m in master’s program (CW…lol) But don’t get too caught up in it. Producing work for class is just that. It doesn’t have to be a masterpiece. You can always revise and reshape later, making it better for yourself and/or publication.

Anyway, best of luck to you.

when I need inspiration, I go outside.  sometimes the middle of the night by the river or lay in a hammock for a few hours.  let everything go and don’t concentrate on writing or thinking or anything stressing you. eventually I fill back up with ideas and feelings, haha.
