I know there are a lot of bees out there in the same position as me: broke, in school (or about to start) and wedding planning. Eek. My fiance and I have been engaged for a few weeks now. We're both looking for jobs to help pay the bills and make ends meet in the coming months. He's a full-time artist (part of the St. Paul slam team that took first place at the National Poetry Slam earlier this month!), and I'll be a full-time grad student in a week and a half. Also, we're moving in together in a few weeks. And on the wedding front, we have yet to pick a date or find a nice venue within our budget.

Oh, and my loving yet traditional dad wants to know how I can afford this new apartment "by myself," when we've already discussed the fact that my fiance and I moving in together post-engagement/pre-marriage. I guess he has selective hearing.

Sooo... who else is in a similar boat? :)

Me! Isnt it fun worrying about school, work, finding affordable housing...oh AND planning a wedding? My problem is that I enjoy the wedding planning the most, so I spend a lot of time on it when I should be focusing on other things. Luckily I still have 10 months so I can space things out! I would say do your best to stay on a time line. Definitely get the date and venue stuff squared away soon and after that just gradually get stuff done and soon enough...our days will be here! :) Good luck on the job hunt!

I can definitely relate! I'd say ditto on pretty much everything you're going through. Smile

Congrats to your fiance on the slam win! I used to be really into the slam scene a few years back here in San Jose, CA, but kind of lost time to go anymore.. I guess the most famous poet from around here is Mike McGee.  Know him?

Thank you, thank you. I know everything will turn out okay, but it's always nice to hear from other people who can relate. Cool

MrsH -- I'm worried I'll be enjoying the wedding planning the most too, especially when I actually have other responsibilities! Right now, I'm just looking for jobs and waiting for school to start, and researching wedding stuff.

DarlingNikki -- yes, my fiance does know Mike McGee! What a small slam world. Heehee.
