So, my newest obsession is scoop neck wedding gowns! Way back before I was engaged I saw the Priscilla of Boston Madison dress from the Vineyard Collection and fell in LOVE!
Of course they are out of business so I have contemplated having the dress customized by Jasmine’s or Dressilyme (perhaps minus the belt).
I also found this lovely little number at Honeypie Boutique, the Sophia. I love the idea of having a tulle skirt instead but worry about looking too much like a ballerina.
Both are fairly simple but I am just oh so in love with the necklines! Now I just have to decide whether I want something short and sassy or long and classic…
What do you bees think about scoop neck gowns? Is your dress similiar? Have you come across any in your search? If so… I must see!

To me personally, it looks too “tank top-y”. It doesn’t look elegant, or dressy enough for a wedding dress, because of the neckline, IMO.
I should also note tho, that I don’t like scoop necks in shirts in general, so I certainly don’t like them on wedding dresses.

one of the dresses that stuck in my head from say yes to the dress is a lazaro with a scoop neck, absolutely gorgeous and classy

@FortiesFlare: Very good point! They are “tank top-y” and I have heard that comment from a friend as well. I suppose I love the look so much because it’s so flattering on me with my broad shoulders and large bust.
@mrsztobee: Ah yes, after recalling many marathons of that show I have definitely seen that dress!

I don’t want to wear one myself (though I’m also in tank top territory as I’m quite taken with spaghetti straps on wedding dresses!) but I think it’s a beautiful dress feature to have a scoopneck.

Hmm… Not bad, but not my favorite.

@smsorens: I am broad-shouldered, too, and agree it’s a very flattering neckline! I think a wide-set scoop with narrow straps (2″ or less) is perfectly formal and very classy 🙂

I love scoop neck, I tried this one on at Davids Bridal, I didn’t end up buying it but it was my favorite one that I tried on there.
