Yes, we decided to forgo the big wedding and go to Vegas – absolutely no regrets so far. It’s been a lot less stressful for me and as long as me and FI are there, that’s all I need…

My only advice is to NOT spend all the $$$$ on one day if you really can’t afford it or it’s creating drama that you don’t need. It’s just one day, an important day, but in the scheme of things, you’ll have other milestones together as a couple that you can celebrate in the years to come.

@krodarte822: We were supposed to have a reception in Canada once we were back from our wedding in Sweden. Around the time we sent our invitations for the Swedish wedding I was already a little overwhelmed by the amount of time and money we had spent, so we dropped the Canadian reception. SO happy we did, I feel like I’m done planning big parties for the next decade or so!

NO REGRETS!

@krodarte822:  I originally wanted to do a DW because planning is one of my weaknesses. I wanted to get married at the stratosphere tower in Vegas with about 15 of our fam and friends or whoever could make it (it wasn’t going to be that many that could but I think their packages accomodate up to 25 guests). My mom was going to get a shuttle bus and travel guests to Vegas and my uncle has a 10 bedroom house that could accomodate some guests and we would have to block rooms for the rest. After the wedding, we would have came back and had a restaurant reception with 60 guests who couldn’t make it. DH was determined on his family attending so I reluctantly planned the big wedding and I still regret not sticking to what I want to this day. We spent 7K on a wedding we both hate and then afterwards we were too broke to go on a honeymoon, even a mini-moon! Now that we are trying to save for a house, I’m still upset about the cost of the wedding because at least 3-4K of the money we spent on the wedding could have went towards a house. Think about what’s most important to you.
