Hey ladies. So I bought a Kate Spade hand bag about 3 weeks ago and today I noticed that the gold plated hardware is really scratched up and has what looks like water marks on it…I am crestfallen, I mean, it looks really bad…anyone have any idea if I can polish the scratches away? They are not deep.
And I actually have no idea how they got there, so if anyone knows, let me know!

If you bought it from a Kate Spade store, you can take it back and they can probably buff them out.

@kimbean: I was going to suggest the same thing. If you bought it elsewhere, try calling the company (Kate Spade) directly and seeing if they know of a way to fix it

I don’t have to receipt, it was purchased as a gift and I am not sure if it was originally from kate spade or from Zappos or eBay or what 🙁
There is a kate spade store near me, I figure I will make a trip there tonight/tomorrow.

If it was a gift, I would just go to the nearest store and ask them to help you. They might charge you since you didnt buy it from them, but at least you will be able to get the scratches out. How sad! I hate when purse hardware gets all crapped up.

If you don’t know where it came from, it might not be authentic. Not saying that’s true or that whoever bought it knew. But a high-end bag should not be scratched up like that so soon. That’s why I suspect inferior quality. Or it could just be a Kate Spade of inferior quality.
Either way, take it to a store that sells Kate Spade and see if they can authenticate it and maybe suggest a way to get the scratches out.

@PutABirdOnIt: I am pretty sure its authetntic, but worth while point.
I will ask them…my scientist friend thought it looked like there might be something on it.
