So I had a MUA trial the day of my e-pics. It was ok but the lady was kind of a B. She didn’t listen to ANYTHING I said, and after she was done, she told me I’d have to book her for myself + 3 other make-up applications at $80 a piece. Mine would be like $175. It was all just too much. I didn’t know anyone else who wanted their make up done so basically she costs $415 (she takes the trial fee off the booking price if you book). The brows were crazy, I was very shiny, and she kinda just did her own thing ignoring how I told her I prefer my shadow and eyeliner. Nothing worth $175/400 to me.
MUA Trial 1:
So I booked another trial with someone else. It was so bad, I called the other MUA and tried to book her lol. Of course she was already booked. At this point I was $160 in on make-up trials between the two of them 🙁
MUA Trial 2:
I seriously couldn’t see paying for another MUA trial + what it would cost to book!! So I talked to FI, spent about $100 on high quality make-up, and have been doing “trials” on myself for about a week. I still haven’t found a lip color I love, and I need to work on softening up/evening out my brows. I’m also trying different lashes out. These were a tad long for my taste. Give it to me straight… Critique my DIY wedding make-up. Should I pony up for another trial or just go for it myself? Any one else do their own make up? Any regrets? Did it look good in pics? Please share!
Here’s my crack at it:

And here’s my attempt in different lighting. The ones in the OP were in my the car lol. Sorry for 800 pics of myself, it’s hard to take pictures of “make up” and I’m not a big selfie girl.

I swwear I think that the way you did your makeup looks way better than both of the other makeup artists work. I love your eyebrows by the way. There is nothing I would change personally.

Do your own! You look gorgeous in the ones you did. I agree the other MUA’s were not great looking just didn’t look natural to me. I am doing my own for the same exact reason! No one listens to what I want and I didn’t look like myself! You know what looks good one your face better than anyone else so do it yourself!

The MUAs both aged you 10 years!! Your own makeup looks amazing, you look young and fresh. Nice job!

Wow. I was looking at the MUA pics wondering “What are you talking about? Your makeup looks great.” But I’m admittedly not a makeup person. However, seeing your skills I can totally understand. You should go ahead and do your own. You really do look amazing.

Your makeup that you did on your own looks amazing!! One product that’s worth investing in is the All Nighter Spray by Urban Decay. Between that and a good primer your makeup wont budge the entire night!

I love it! What foundation do you have on?

I was going to say the same as PPs. The makeup trials made you look older. You look best with the makeup you did yourself. I’m also doing my own makeup for the big day, because I know what I like on myself, I know my makeup won’t cause me to break out because I’ve been using it, and I’ve always enjoyed doing makeup. Doing it yourself also ensures you can have nearly unlimited free trials (other than the cost of the makeup itself). I always recommend YouTube when people ask me how I learned. They have tons of makeup tutorials that are really helpful, from applying falsies, the perfect prow, and how to nail the winged eyeliner look.

I love your self done makeup!!! I second pp that mentioned a good primer and setting spray.

Your makeup looks so much better than the other two trials. Definitely do your own. The only critique I have is your eyebrows. They look a bit square when you do your own makeup. That’s my personal opinion, but if you like it go for it. You look genuinely happier in your makeup than the other two trials.

mrsbrizz2017 : your makeup looks so much better than the trials! (Esp #2!)
I’d go a little heavier on the blush, but really i think you look great.

mrsbrizz2017 : You should do your own. You obviously know what you are doing and the photos of your having done your own make up are stunning. You have the skills. Use them! 🙂

Thank you for the feed back!!! In the other MUA’s defense I upgraded my phone between the last make up up trial and mine. It has a MUCH better camera.
mrscsoontobee : thank you for the tip! I definitely want setting spray!!!!
tomkitty : I went with MAC studio sculpt over studio fix because they said is was more hydrating.
amanda1988 : 2 was a nightmare to me!! The blush I got looks really shimmery in the case. I didn’t buy bronzer yet. Do you think I should buy the bronzer to darken it up (contour a little), just apply tons of the shimmery blush, or get a new blush that’s matte? I really love the one I got (MAC hushed tone), but I’m worried if I cake it on I will be a shiney mess?
kristin36890 : I struggle with my eyebrows everyday! Ones always higher than the other. I don’t like them so square. I actually bought one of those brow stamps to see if it can help me and my hopeless brows 😂😂
