I can't help with the music part, sorry. As for the readings, I am pretty sure that since it is in a Catholic Church you would still need to do readings from the bible. Have you met with a priest or a deacon from the church yet? Usually, they give you several to choose from.
I think you can choose whatever you want from the Bible. As for other readings, I know it can be done depending on the reading but it may depend on your priest, church, etc. and you would need to ask them first.
You'll have to pick them from the Bible...most churches will give you a reccommended list of readings to pick from, but if you have one or two that you really want to use you could probably substitute them as long as they relate to faith/weddings/families/marriage.
Sorry, can't help with the music thing!
We received a handy little book from our church with approved options for all the different parts of the wedding ceremony (readings, gospel, psalms, vows, etc). It did say in the readings section that the texts listed in our book were not exhaustive and that other readings could be chosen will approval from the priest. However, one of the two readings must refer to marriage. If you want, pm me and I'll list the actual passages that are recommended in our booklet for you.
This is the book we used to choose our readings. I think we could have anything from the Bible, but these are all appropriate to and popular for weddings, so we just chose from the book:

Thanks everyone, this is really helpful. :)
@charm_bracelet - Yup, we met with the priest once, and we're meeting him again in a couple weeks. I know I can ask him too, and I will when we see him again.
We got a booklet that was kind of like a workbook for the ceremony. I actually was suprised at the amount of choices we could make.
I know exactly what song you are talking about and we actually sang it recently at mass, but I don't know if it was called that or something else. Sorry.
i just made a post about this earlier today!! miss paris, if you get around to it, i'd love to see the passages that were recommended for you. we just saw the priest on tuesday but i didn't think to ask, and i've been looking up passages on my own but could use a little guidance. thanks!

Hello, we're having our ceremony at a Catholic church, but we're not having a Mass. I am pretty sure we have to pick two readings - my question is, is there are pre-approved list of readings from the Bible, and does it have to be a Scripture reading if we're not having Mass?
Also, a bit random, but does anyone know where I can find the music for the hymn "For the Beauty of the Earth" that is the version heard here? The music for it in the red Worship book I have is not the same, although the lyrics are. I swear I've sung the Little Women version at church before.
