I’m frantically looking for a really good wedding dress alterations place in the Twin Cities. I got my dress in Boston but as I’m moving to Minneapolis, I’m not sure it’d be a good idea to have my wedding dress altered here so I’m looking for a seamstress in Minneapolis/Twin Cities. If anyone has a recommendation for a bridal shop whose seamstress department did a good job, I’d really appreciate it.

@Millie02: Hi there! I am a MPLS bee and just took mine to someone last night. Although I have not seen the final results of mine I saw what this woman did to my friends dress. It looekd great. Her name is Laura and she is this little old french canadian woman who does all the alterations out of her basement. If you need a crinoline slip she has many she loans out just for the day. She was so sweet. I got my dress from the wedding shoppe in st. paul. Originally they had told me it would cost me 400-600 for the alterations. I only needed it hemmed and the top taken in a small amount. This woman told me my cost last night…75-95! I was in shock.
Let me know if you want her phone number. She was very sweet, but I understand some people are hesitant about people who work out of their home opposed to a small shop that does alterations.

What part are you moving to? The city or the suburbs?

@Itsallcomingtogether: Hey, thank you very much for the info, but since I’m new to the area, I’d rather go with a shop.

I went to Amazing Alterations in Anoka. Brenda she owns and is the only one that does alterations at her shop. She is fantastic! The shop itself is a gem, it’s completely adorable with crystals and girly decor all over. I got my dress only a couple weeks before my wedding. She was all booked up but after hearing my predicament with timing, she was able to squeeze me in. When i went to my first fitting I expected to have a couple more – she laughed and said that as long as I didn’t change my mind about anything, one fitting was all she would need. We took in the waist, hips, and bust on my heavily beaded dress, added cups, hemmed my ruffled skirt, and did an underbustle. She also sold me my hoop skirt and steamed my dress. It was PERFECT when I went in to pick it up. I was so pleased with this shop and so relieved that it was done with a week to spare so I didn’t have to worry anymore! If you’re interested, the phone number is 763-432-5243.
Whether you go with her or anyone else, good luck and congratulations!

There is a place called Highland Tailors in St. Paul on Cleveland. I don’t have the info in front of me, but should be easy to google or you can message me for it.
They did my dress for my sisters wedding, they have done repairs on clothes….it’s like magic. I wondered if they bought me a new shirt lol.
they have added back pockets to pants, and many other things. VERY reasonabley priced. I don’t know why I wouldn’t be taking my dress the them for my wedding. I just don’t have my dress yet.
my sister also recommended a place ( she is getting me contact info later tonight or tomorrow) that a close friend of hers used for her $5k wedding gown and was extremely pleased. I caN pasinfo along along if you like.
