I’m searching for a venue and starting to set up appointments. Thanks to websites, I have a pretty good idea of which venues I really like, but I don’t want to narrow it down too much. How many venues did you look at? And if you don’t mind – how much did the venue cost and did it include food? Thanks bees!

@Runnergirl47: My FI and I looked at 6 venues in person and I looked at dozens online before we chose ours. When we went to look at our venue, we weren’t expecting too much since at that time they didn’t have alot on their photo gallery on their website but once we got there we knew it was the one and then when they told us the price which was wayyy under what we thought we would pay it sealed the deal. The cost for the venue for 5 1/2 hours with fully staffed and stocked bar, tables, chairs, etc. was $1500. Food was not included but they let you choose between two of their preferred caterers. The caterer we chose is costing about $6K for 130 people not too bad for the greater Boston area. It is beautiful and we are so excited! Good luck on finding your venue, it’s one of the most fun aspects of wedding planning!

I looked at every wedding venue in Maryland online and a few in DC and Virginia. My “musts” list:
- All indoor
- Separate ceremony, cocktail, and reception locations
- All tables and chairs and linens and plates etc included
- In-house caterer
- Open at least until 11pm
- Only 1 wedding held per day
- Saturday evening wedding
- DOC included.
- Open bar option
- Walking distance from a hotel
- $15-20k, the lower the better
Our end price with all taxes and fees: $13,035.94. Also, we got a LOT more than we expected in bonuses. =) Our package is crazy.

I should also add that I looked at over 200 online and only went to 2 in person.

We researched a number of places online and narrowed it down to 5 to look at in person. The third venue that we looked at in person was our clear favorite (and my clear fav from the online research). Just the venue was $2,500 which included tables, chairs and a few other things I don’t remember any more. Food and drink was additional.

Looked at what felt like a bazillion online and 3 in person! Good luck!

We went to see 4 venues and ended up picking the 4th. We had contacted 10 or so though. Our venue didn’t charge us for the room, only the food and drinks.

Thanks for the help everyone! I live in Newport, RI and the prices are all very high and don’t include a caterer. Luckily, a few have a discount if you are a resident of the area.

I looked at 5- I hated 2 of them, was “ok” on one, and loved 2 but one of those was way out of my price range so it was easy!!

I looked at and showed DH countless ones online. We narrowed it down and looked at 3 in person over 1 weekend.

I didn’t really look at any- I already knew where I wanted to be married.
The factors that influenced my decision were:
-sentimental attatchment (great memories)
-beauty/ romantic vibe
-suitability for my guests (handicap access)
-size (not so much of an issue because I had 37 guests!)
In the end, there was only one choice for us!

I looked at so many online, probably almost all of them within my area. I emailed probably about 50 for pricing info.
I actually only went to look at 2 in person. I had already been to one at a previous wedding, but we went back to look again anyway. Looked at the 2nd one, even though I could tell I was going to love it from the pictures. I picked the 2nd, but I did love things about both venues.
The venue I picked is $1500 rental fees (including chairs, tables, linens, some awesome leather furniture, and separate spaces for a ceremony and reception and bar area) plus another $500 for the ceremony. 6 hours time for the reception and an additional hour for the ceremony. Also, I have to use their alcohol package. I am free to bring in any outside caterer.

we looked at like 40 online…went to see 8 in person….and this has been the hardest process thus far 🙁

we saw four and ended up booking number 4. We had a feeling it was going to be the one – they are so busy we had to wait two weeks to see it.
We are paying $300 for the ceremony space and $60 pp for appetizers, top shelf open bar, three entree family style dinner, pizza, and a dessert table.

I looked at a ton online, emailed and spoke over the phone to a ton of them and we only went to see about 5 in person. The 1st one I saw was nice but so not wedding material. The second one we went to was the one we booked with. The 3rd one was my number 1 but it was way over our budget. The 4th venue was nice and fi liked it but it wasn’t what I was looking for. And the 5th one was fi’s least favorite of the 5 (he didn’t see 1 with me in person).
Number 2 (our venue) is costing us less than $450 for 150 guests to just rent the space. We liked the look online and was blown away in person. The price sealed the deal. And proximity to our house.
