Have you given titanium a thought?  Or tungsten carbide?  I recommend looking on amazon; they seem to have some pretty great prices.

My Fiance got me a plain 10k rose gold “spacer” band to go in between my e-ring and my diamond band. And I love the look of just the plain and my e-ring. He got it at a local jeweler for like $100 but I know they have similar bands at JCpenney and zales and such!
