We are having a destination wedding in May. We want to use seashells and write the guest’s name on them to use as the placecard. Does anyone know of a somewhat flat shell that can easily be written on/painted on?? We have tried scallop shells, but the spacing in between the ridges didn’t work well.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!!

How many guests are you expecting? Maybe sand dollars? Use a paint pen, that should work. But if you are having a lot of guests it might be hard to get anything in bulk, since they are still animals technically speaking.
What about pieces of beach glass? Might travel better and be less fragile.

Would these work for what you’re thinking? http://naplesseashellcompany.com/tiger_cowrie.html
Check out the other shells on the site too. Some of them are smooth as well.
They have several inexpensive small shells that seem to be a great size for placecards: http://naplesseashellcompany.com/prod03.html
And they have a section of “wedding shells”: http://naplesseashellcompany.com/wedding_seashells.html

As a scallops would have been my suggestions. Also as a PP said sand dollars. I have also seen someone tie the name with ribbon to an all white star fish. I still have that star fish actually.
