- Wedding: September 2014
So, My wedding is mid september 2014 (the 13th!) and I’ve got a lot done already. Our wedding will be rustic for sure. We are doing an upscale BBQ (ribs, roasted chicken, fancy salads, etc) at a pavilion on a lake. They have a birchwood arbor overlooking the lake for the ceremony, and the reception will be held in a LARGE pavilion with rustic wood picnic tables and lots of exposed beamwork. It’s a little plain, but we have the luxury of dressing it up the night before, which means that we can really go all out.
Our colors are mint, pink, and gold. We’re doing lots of strung doilies, and using bandana print linens in a mint color so the vibe is pretty and fresh but still picnicy. We’re doing gold mason jars full of basic white summer stock on all of the tables. Everything is meant to read very rustic meets pretty.
I’ve been wanting to bring a non floral element into my wedding that I can carry throughout to tie everything together. Originally I wanted to do feathers dipped in gold paint. That way I could do feather boutineers, feathers in jars alongside the florals, feathers hanging places, and even get a stamp of a picture of a feather to use on my stationary.
I’m starting to second guess all of these feathers. I feel like maybe I should do something a little more rustic and autumnal? Like a pinecone? My date really straddles that summer/autumn fence, so I’m feeling torn. Thoughts?
