I am a regular poster but using a different name to stay anonymous 🙂
So I have been on Seasonique for about 2 years. I love the pill because it helps deal with my crazy menstrual issues, but it always makes me nervous that I only get a period every 3 months, because on the off chance I DID get pregnant (unlikely, since we also use condoms) that it would be too late for me to have any options. I don’t know what I would do, but I want to be able to consider all my options! I am in grad school and really not in a position where we are ready yet.
So this past couple weeks, got my last period, it was a day or two later than usual, but thought everything was fine. It was not a light period at all (TMI-bled through tampons within a couple hours). But it was a little shorter than usual for me.
So today is 1.5 weeks after start of that period, and I still feel a bit…off. Been extremely overheated in my sleep (I usually sleep with all the blankets all year round), FI has been complaining I have been unusually moody, and been seriously overexhausted.
So now I am struggling with whether to test or not. I feel like I am being hysterical for almost no reason, because I have had a heavy period and we use condoms any way on top of BC.
So has any one heard of getting more than light bleeding/spotting while pregnant? Digging in these forums I foudn this link http://www.americanpregnancy.org/gettingpregnant/pregnancyfaq.htm which says that is extremely unlikely.
Thanks for reading this rambling of a post 🙂 Any thoughts are appreciated!

It seems pretty unlikely you are pregnant since you bled so heavily. There really isn’t any reason for you to sit here and freak yourself out, just take a test in the morning. When I was on birth control, my periods got very light and eventually stopped all together. I used to freak myself out thinking I was pregnant and that I wouldn’t ever know. Invest in some cheap pregnancy tests from amazon and keep them in your bathroom. Then you can test whenever you have a paranoid moment and have some peace of mind. We can’t tell you if you’re pregnant, only a test can do that.

It sounds unlikely since you use both methods of bc – but it is possible to have a “period” when you are pregnant. It happened to me, but it was MUCH lighter and shorter than my real periods. Basically just spotting.

@kiddosc-Exactly! I used to panic for weeks on end over nothing (my cycle is extremely irregular, and even seasonique hasn’t completely gotten it under control). I learned to just keep some tests on hand to take. Or if I didn’t have any, march to the nearest drugstore and grab some immediately. Way better to find out instead of living in fear.
Good luck! 🙂

Thanks ladies 🙂 I took your advice and just went and bought a box of tests to keep on hand. This way I won’t get myself worked up next time about even going to BUY them, which will help I hope.
It was a negative, so no more freaking! And if it takes testing every 3 months just for peace of mind, that’s what I will have to do. Thanks again!
