Have any of you guys ever been to a seated/plated dinner reception in New Orleans. I’m a native, so I love the traditional New Orleans cocktail party. But my FI’s family is pushing for a full meal. Venue recommendations? The Tea Room, City Park and some other banquet halls offer seated meals, I just don’t have a sense of how good the food and service with that option as compared with the more familar cocktail party.

I’ve seen seated dinners at my venue, Board of Trade, but it does reduce the amount of people that can fit in the room.
I’m sure many hotels can do them, but you just won’t be picking from one of their standard packages, which could bring the cost way up. Couldn’t hurt to ask.
Audubon Team Room/Clubhouse and City Park were the only venues I recall that already had a seated dinner option on their menu.

Thanks! Planning with that in mind has been a bit of a pain, so far. I’ll look more closely at hotels, though. I’m sure they’re pros at catering dinners for conventions and other meetings. The 24 percent gratuity at Downtown hotels is just a bit jarring.

Not sure how many people you’re having, but for a small wedding Napoleon House does seated dinners. That place is my alternate universe dream venue, it’s so cool.
