For so many tables, I think alphabetically by last name would be fastest.

Hi there!  I am doing assigned tables, but putting up place cards right outside the reception area.  I’m doing them alphabetical by last name, so guests can find theirs easliy, then on the card it has their table number.

I think it would be easier to do alphabetical names, less people have to search for their own.  Hope it works out!

I don’t like by table.  What if I’m at table 26 and I have to look at every table first and other people are crowding around trying to see their table?  If it’s alphabetical, I know exactly where to look and go.

Are you posting a floor plan showing all the tables and their numbers?  With that many tables, that might help too, to get people started in the right direction for their table.

Definetly alphabetically. Never heard of seating charts according to table. Tables don’t make sense, because you obviously don’t know your table yet (that is what you are searchig for). But we all know our last names;)
