I need a creative idea for the tables so the waiters know what entree to bring each guest.  Any suggestions?

I have seen a lot of bees with different colored place cards or some kind of indicators on their place cards.

Here is a link to Mrs. Taffy's place cards.

I think doing the color thing on the escort card is the best way to go about it.  I know Mrs. Avocado did different colored buttons on the cards to designate food choices, which I thought was really cute.

Our escort cards are bookmarks, so for us, the color of the ribbon at the top of the bookmark will designate chicken, beef or veggie.

I wanted to be able to make the placecards in advance, so they are standard tents with the guests' names on them (in English and Japanese). Then as the RSVPs come in with menu choice, I am going to add a 1.5" sticker to it. I made them with Photoshop and printed them on photo sticker paper.

(We wanted a little ode to Japanese pop art at some point in our wedding.)

Oh, and I have to let the caterer know ahead of time how many of each dish to bring to each table.

I'm using different colored placecards, but I'm pre-writing all the names on white cardstock that will be glued to the placecards.  The color will frame the white names.

We're doing sort of a historic/colonial inspiration for the reception so I'm going to put different colored wax seals on the corner of each place card/escort card to denote the meal selection. I'd also like to have the seals be a cow, a chicken, and a vegetable, but I haven't found any yet!
