Do you want assigned seating? I would say you should, only because I can picture 3 people sitting together at one table and 1 person not wanting to sit by themselves or 5 people at a table for 8 and having a group of 4 that has no where to sit.
I would recommend assigned seating. If guests will be in two different areas, you want to make sure that no one feels left out. I would assign some of your family and some of your FI's family outside (and in) as well as the friends. It wouldn't be very good if all of your family was inside and his was outside or something like that.
Thanks for the advice ladies... even though I would prefer not to have to do assigned seating, I can see it all playing out on the wedding day like y'all described. I guess it is on to creating a seating chart now! One project after another!! lol
I'm all for seating charts & I think they are very much needed, but what happens if you seat someone outside when they want to be inside or vise versa? sorry to make it more difficult, but it was just a thought...
@bridegirl Thats why I initially didn't want to do the seating charts...I don't want to make people feel excluded for being inside or not at a big table. I might just do reserved seating for our immediate family and leave the rest open. I think this would definitely ensure that my bridal party and family aren't stuck sitting inside when "random people" (the words of my MOH/Sister haha) are sitting right near the groom and I. Decisions Decisions!

Our wedding will be taking place at a winery where about half of the seating will be inside and the other half outside on a large attached pavillion. There are 10 small patio-type tables that only seat 4 people and we are bringing in 5ft round tables which will seat 8. Do you think that we should still do assigned seating with these small tables and the inside/outisde arrangement? We expect around 150 people at the most. The wedding will be fairly casual with a buffet dinner. Here is a link to our venue, in case you'd like to see how it is all laid out: Woodmill Winery So, hive, what's the word here?
