I suggest cleaning it after alterations. Maybe call some bridal salons in town, and ask where they direct their brides for gown cleanings. Good Luck
Does it NEED any major cleaning? Because if it's in good shape, and maybe just needs to be pressed, I would wait until after alterations to get it cleaned. I just took mine to my dry cleaner (Bakker's Fine Dry Cleaning on Greenwood Ave did a great job with mine).
You might also call the place where you plan to have your alterations done and see what they recommend as far as cleaners go.
Madison Carnolia did a great job with mine - it cost approx. $40... here is the link to the yelp site - it has good reviews.

Any leads on dress cleaning in the Seattle area? I bought a sample with intricate beading, lace and tulle and plan to get it cleaned before alterations.
