@lilsweetie:  Thanks for setting this up!

I only just found out this weekend, but according to the date of my last cycle, I’ll be due on May 18 or so.

We are pretty new to the Seattle area – moved right around New Years’ for my husband’s job – and we’re right around Mill Creek/Silver Lake; south of Everett but north of Lynnwood.

This is my first pregnancy, I have absolutely no idea what to expect! It happened maybe a little sooner than we had anticipated! I am excited but anxious.

I read that there are lots of different groups in the Seattle area for expectant moms and parents of newborns, like PEPS.  We’re looking for groups like that since we’re still new here and don’t have family in the area. Any suggestions?

Hi all!!

We’re in Queen Anne in Seattle, currently 4w3d pregnant with baby #1, due May 16, 2014!  These early days are crawling by.  I’m counting down to my first appointment on 9-20.  We’ve known for almost a week, and it doesn’t really feel real yet.  (The constant desire for napping and the random dizziness help, though!)

I’d also love suggestions of groups in the area.  I have some new-mom friends I can ask.  I’d like to wait a bit though, since no one knows we’re expecting except DH, me, and a couple medical professionals.  🙂

Congrats all!  Looking forward to growing with you.

I live downtown. Just made my first appointment(s) – they came in a batch of 3. I am feeling impatient waiting for the chance to make sure everything is ok…

Since this is baby #1 for us, I have no idea what there is regarding social mom groups. It seems like Seattle parents are older, more likely to work, and have fewer kids than other places I’ve lived. How old are you guys? (I’m 29)

I started taking PNV, extra folic acid, calcium, and Omega 3. Also cut back from 4+ cups of coffee daily to 2 max. What are you all doing?

@lilsweetie:  We moved here from Denver.  I am working as a paralegal downtown, but I think our tentative plan is that I’ll stay home once baby is born. Congrats on having a LO for your boy to be “big brother” to! We haven’t told anyone yet – it’s new news and we want to make sure it “sticks” first!

@Looopy:  Oh we have almost the same EDD! Exciting. 🙂

@drlolaz:  I am also 29! I think that cutting down on the coffee is going to be a huge challenge for me too.. I’m a bit of an addict.

Do you ladies think it’s too early to make an appt. with OB? We weren’t sure if I should just have a blood test with the regular doc first and wait for 8 weeks for OB, or if we should just go ahead with it.

I am feeling pretty much exhausted and hungry all the time! Oh and so bloated I can barely wear most my pants, haha! Any symptoms for y’all?

@kitakitten:  I’m 29 too!

I called my doctor and asked what I should do.  They sent me in to get a pregnancy test, and then I had to call and schedule two more appointments.  The receptionists guided me through the process of when to schedule what.

My symptoms are sleepiness and dizziness, with some slight nausea and gas thrown in for fun!

I”m joining in, Tacoma is my hometown, moved back from Houston a while back and settling in…Haven’t found an OB yet, just took my nursing boards here and excited! Although we may find ourselves flipping back and forth, I’m calling Seattle/Tacoma my home for now. I havent’ found an OB here yet, but since my boards are done I plan on getting some  names…I’m leaning towards a midwife though…we shall see.

Thsi is my first pregnancy and I’m nervous! May 14

@fresitachulita:

Congrats, and welcome!! Not going to nursing school when I had the chance is one of my only regrets in life.  I have so much admiration for nurses!

I’m nervous as well – hopefully it starts to transform into pure excitement soon!

Suppose I’ll chime in as well — due October 6 so I’m in the home stretch now. DH is Army so I’ve been going to Madigan on JBLM for all my appointments. Having the easiest pregnancy of all time, with minimal discomfort and almost zero symptoms. Can’t complain!

@kitakitten:  aww..thanks! It’s a second career for me, I’m 31…so sometimes opportunity knocks more than once. =)

I hope so too! I feel like I’m couting the days, like I am super exciting tomorrow I am 5 weeks, but I dont’ think I will feel any better until he/she can be visualized.

@iarebridezilla:  How exciting – it’s almost time!!! Hopefully we all have pregnancies as easy as yours. =)

@fresitachulita:  Maybe, just maybe, once we’re done having babies and they are school-aged, I could convince DH to let me go back to school!

My OB appointment isn’t until week 8 in the beginning of October – I don’t know how I am going to deal with my anxiety and excitement until then!

@kitakitten:  I”m anxious too…Ive spent the last few hours looking at midwives and OB’s, amd I’m so overwhelmed…I don’t even have that appointment yet. I decided to email one of my instructors for some names to narrow my search. Hopefully I will be booked for an appointment soon! just hit the 5 week mark today..yay!

Good luck!

We recently found out we’re expecting our first on May 10. I’m still in the process of tracking down a midwife and OB, but I had one appointment with my naturopath and I’m pretty sure everything is going just fine. I’m planning to interview some practitioners the first week in Oct and hopefully find one (or more) that I like!

I’ve scheduled appointments with two OB/GYNs for the week of Oct. 7th – hopefully I feel like I click with one of them.  One doc is female (which I was thinking I’d prefer) but I’ve read some reviews that she can be a bit intense and abrasive.  The other doc is male, and I’ve heard he’s very friendly and easy-going.  I’m kind of thinking that I’d rather be with someone easy to work with than of my own gender.  What do y’all think?
