If you are comfortable sending your dress off to a specialist, I'd recommend the Affordable Preservation Company (www.affordablepreservation.com). They did a great job on my dress and their prices are very reasonable.
I want to bump up this thread to see if anyone else has any contributions. I keep seeing Stadium/Village Cleaners mentioned locally, but that's about it. What do you think?
I had heard of them, but not directly from anyone that had used them. :\ Hopefully you'll have more luck than I did.
I also sent my gown away to a company recommended by the designer in the tag of my dress. I used Imperial Gown Restoration Company. They have been around forever, have a very clear contract and warranty, and a great reputation. It was expensive, but I got what I paid for. My dress was filthy after dragging on the rainy, muddy ground and they got it so clean! It is also packaged beautifully and taking the dress out of the box does NOT void the warranty! Their website is www.gown.com
