Had my second fitting yesterday, and I continue to love my seamstress!
The new shortened length of my once-floor length, chapel trained gown is perfect. It comes to mid-shin, making the dress so much lighter. I’m officially over my stress of ‘why did I buy a heavy satin dress’! Removing the train and making it tea length also solved the problem of the scuffs and fabric pulls at the original hem, that occured due to it being a sample gown.
We were originally going to dot the outer crinoline with small lace rosettes, but we’d decided instead to attach a swath of the red lace to that crinoline, so it gives the illusion of having a red lace lining all around. It’ll just peep out under the skirt. This is one of my favorite aspects of the redesign.
The jacket is not quite done. I want it shortened and more fitted so it fits more like a bolero, where as it’s more of a cape at the moment.
All should be done next Monday, and I can hopefully snap some photos of my finished dress!
