Yep, your face says it all! You were not happy. What a rude store all the way around. I agree with Koalaclark to get the Monarch–not only did you look absolutely stunning in it, but you looked happy! Don’t be afraid to get one of the first dresses you try on. I know a lot of people think they will have dress regret, but if you love it, then you love it regardless of how many others you try on. Plus it will be one less thing you have to worry about as your date approaches!

sophielle:

Get the Monarch. Clearly it’s still calling to you.

Sorry you had a sucky experience with rude sucky people.

Even if you don’t get a dress there you will have a good experience.  They were very patient with a very indecisive bride….

sophielle:  ugh, what an awful store. I had a similarly crap consultant who kept insisting I have bling after I had explained 5 times that was not my thing and I wanted a simpler dress. I liked the monarch on you too. I got a sheath dress as well in the end but mine was a champagne satin with a cowl neck etc – quite1930s looking.

I like the Monarch, but go to JCrew before you buy. They have a gazillion sheath dresses, are less expensive than the Monarch, run true to size, and every so often they have sales on their website that also apply to bridal.

The closest bridal store is in Boston, and when I went I was underwhelmed with the customer service. However, you can’t beat their prices. You could also order online and return it- JCrew will accept returns up to 60 days on their wedding dresses, unlike most bridal stores. They also ship within 3-5 days, so you aren’t waiting 8 weeks for a dress.

Get the Monarch!

There are some really bad customer service reps out there, especially when it comes to wedding-related dresses.  Go with what you like, what looks good, and from a store that treated you with respect!

J crew has a great return policy! If you can’t get to one in person, I’d send off for one to try at home. You should also look into shop bop. I have a brand new badgley mischka sheath dress from there, size 6, that I bought from there two months ago and changed my mind about. Let me know if you’re interested, it’s on their website right now along with some other amazing things.

I remember from a previous post that you’re in Ottawa, yes? Have you tried With Love Bridal? All the dresses there are out of the garment bags which makes them easier to see and you can pull them yourself or have a consultant make suggestions. They had a lot of options that were simpler sheath dresses/less blinged out and poofy compared to other places. There’s also a J Crew opening here in a few months, though I don’t know if they will have wedding dresses.
