My cousin is having her second son in a couple of weeks, and for reasons I don’t want to get into, she’s not having a baby shower. She didn’t have a shower for her first son, either – again, deeper complicated family issues that I would prefer not to discuss.
I bought her a gift for her first baby. She had a registry, so it was easy to pick something for her. This time around, I’m having a really difficult time trying to figure out what I can get her. I don’t want to buy her clothes, because she’ll have a ton from her previous son (both sons are August babies, so I can’t even get her new clothes due to different seasons). And I’m not going to buy any more toys, because she’ll have a bunch of those, as well.
I was thinking of getting her a bunch of baby food or a few packs of diapers, or a gift card, but I thought those were too impersonal. Thoughts? If anyone knows any gret Etsy stores for unique baby items (boy-specific or gender neutral), I’d appreciate it. I’m completely at a loss here.

Does she have anything that’s showing some wear that could use replacing? How about another car seat? Or a boppy cover to go over a boppy she might already have!

I’d get her a pedicure. I’m in third trimester now and painting my own toenails is really uncomfortable. If she’ll be heavily pregnant all the way through flip-flop season she’d probably like it.

Giftcard for babysitting would be my first suggestion. Or something for her. I’m pregnant with my second and if she’s anything like me she has everything for the baby but doesn’t think about pampering herself.

@bunnymama: +1. Honestly, it sounds selfish, but it’s always nice when someone remembers that the baby has a mom probably tired from labor/delivery/pregnancy and anything to feel like a real person again is great.
