I am in my forties, and have been dating a guy in his forties since last year, both are divorced. He asked me to marry him. He loves winter and picked January to get married. When I looked at the calander, Jan 1st is a Saturday :) but not sure if I will find a place. I was originally thinking of a beach wedding, since we live on the shore, and first time we met was on the Jersey/Delaware ferry. Also, with us both being married, and smaller families, I really dpmt lmpw whether to just have him and I, an intimate wedding, or our children, or the entire family. Dont really want to go crazy with money.  Any suggestions?

Jenny, head over the encore board.  There's lots of us in the same boat!  Anything goes for your encore wedding.  Congrats on your engagement!

I'm an encore bride, marrying an encore groom on the beach on LBI in July.  We're in our 40s too and have 5 kids between us from 11 to 20. We're having 50 - 60 guests at our wedding.

I'm an encore bride, marrying an first time groom in June. We're in our 40's and 30's and I have 2 grown sons. We're having 50-60 guests at our wedding as well.

    Let's have fun!

I was a 56-year-old second-time bride when we got married last year.  NotFroofy was a 41-year-old first time bride.  We had a very small ceremony (since we are a same-sex couple, it was in Massachusetts), but then had a reception for about 60 people back in DC.

You can really do whatever you like.  All the old "rules" about second weddings are pretty much out the window at this point.  You and your fiance just need to figure out how many people you would like to have, and whether you need to cut back on that number for budgetary reasons.
