Yeah I dont get it either. I watched a few episodes of the first season but I was so bored.
I tried watching it too, I couldn't get into it @ all. It doesn't help when The Soup (on E!) makes fun of it...
@Enchanted1: Haha, I like some things that the Soup makes fun of though!
the appeal is hard to explain. I started a separate thread where I was totally making fun of it and talking about how bad I think it is. but did I stop watching it? nope. it's such a bad show, but I kept coming back for more-- don't know why!! I think I just like really cheeseball shows. my FI gives me a really hard time about it.
I'm watching the new episode and I can't turn away lol. I'm crazy.
MissAsB I do too, but then I start narrating the especially lame parts of the episode in my head w/ Joel McHale's voice lol
:)
On an unrelated note, there sure are a lot of well-known actors/actresses on Secret Life.
The show makes a great drinking game. Everytime they mention 'sex' you have to take a drink.
I was bored one day and watched the first episode on Netflix, it has to be one of the dumbest shows I've ever seen. but you know what? I've watched every episode on Netlfix! I just couldn't stop watching it once I started! I make fun of it every time I watch it and tell the hubby how dumb it is...but I still keep going!
It totally falls under my guilty pleasure category, right up there with the Bachelor and Teen Mom. I can't really explain the appeal, only that I end up glued to the screen!
@MonAmi: LOLOL!!!!! I've seen a few episodes... they do say sex a lot...!
The appeal is like watching a potential train wreak in slow motion. When you think it can't get anymore cringe worthy, it does! I can't turn away.
I watch it every week but I think it's SO stupid! I dunno why I can't stop watching. I think the parents, or the older actors, make the show watchable. Otherwise, the bad acting and friend incest is too much to bare!
@stbMohror: that is exactly what happened to me too. although I have to admit that I skipped and/or fast forwarded through parts in the first season.
@stbMohror: That's how I got hooked! Netflix :]
But honestly, I love it. Yes...half the stuff that shows up on there probably wouldn't happen!
The acting is awful, the writing is awful, but somehow I can't stop watching it. If my FI asks what I'm watching, I just refer to it as "that terrible ABC Family show."

So, I'm watching the last episode because there isn't anything else on TV and I sort of don't understand the appeal. I have never watched it before but I'm not really impressed. It sort of seems like a teenage soap opera. Am I missing something?
