@NYMango:  Lotto tickets! That’s what I’m gonna do this year!

If we are doing seroius gufts, DH and I usually buy the DVD/Blu-ray of one of the year’s blockbusters. The good ones, though, not the ones that made a lot of money but were actually really bad (most action flicks). I really liked the second Star Trek movie this year – what about that? It’s got something for guys and girls!

@NYMango:  You could go with a nice pair of scented candles, a small set of wineglasses, a coffee mug (with a small bag of coffee included), a 2014 calendar, desk clock, gift card to a Starbucks (or other location), neutral-smelling hand sanitizer and lotion set (like linen scented), or container of candy/chocolates. 🙂

Scratch off tickets, gift card to local restaurant, gift basket of different candies and other treats, movie basket with popcorn, bowls, goobers, etc., several small bottles of alcohol, fondue pot set.

@NYMango:  Scratch off tickets would be an idea, but may want to include a ‘consolation prize’ with it, like a small bottle of wine (I’d want a drink if I lost $20 worth of tickets lol).

I had to participate in a Secret Santa/Dirty Santa one year–I walked away with a lava lamp and an umbrella!

@NYMango:  Since it’s a Secret Santa, I really like the idea of getting a high quality hot cocoa and perhaps some cookies to go with the hot chocolate if your budget still allows.

Food items usually work, unless you have any coworkers with food allergies. Maybe a mini board game? Or else a gift voucher to a big department store or something 🙂 Or something useful for the office.
