After many changing of plans and different problems (such as money and other people butting in) coming up... we have decided to have a private ceremony with My little brother as my witness and Craig's brother as his witness and my friend who is a photographer.

At first we were going to have a beautiful ceremony in the gardens close to home but then the cost was just going up and up and up... and then we canned that idea and decided that a wedding in Vegas would be perfect... honeymoon and wedding in one! then my dad and brother decided they were coming which was ok at first then everytime i would see my dad he would be like "we can do this and that and go here" and just taking over. then our car choked itself again so we had to get that fixed and then it was just we need a new car more than anything at the moment... ok cancel the Vegas idea and tell everyone that we're not having a wedding... ha no more family dramas!

I found this celebrant who seems perfect (we meet her this saturday) she also offers her cottage style garden as a venue... which is also perfect, so we have decided to have it there with 3 others watching, then organise a party for that evening and surprise everyone... i will go to k-mart and print out some of the photo's and have them up on the wall for everyone to see :)

I love surprising people... i don't know why we didn't think of this sooner.

    YAY I'M EXCITED!!!!!

I just had a thought.... with the party we are having afterwards i've just written a list of people, and i thought i don't want to make it big, because then the cost of food and alcohol gets a bit much.... so i've stopped at about 20 of our closest family and friends.

With the people that i don't invite (who won't have any idea its happening cuz no one will anyway) i was thinking about sending out a letter/card thing to say "announcing our marriage" and send some photo's, alot of my family is overseas and i thought it would be just that little bit nicer than calling them and telling that we're married :) what do you girls think?

My FI and I are getting Married in Jamaica and so we are sending out photo wedding announcements. We are going to have the photographer touch up our 3 favorite photographs first so that we can get the announcement cards printed and mailed out pretty soon after we get married.

OK wording question! LOL everyone out at lunch so no one is going to bug me that i'm not doing work... HA HA HAHA!

This is what i have so far

Our days are fill and our schedules too,
So we ran off to say 'I do!'

    Two heart joined in love
    united forever in love
    with joy and happiness
    Juliette Middle & Last name
    And
    Craig Middle & Last name
    are pleased to announce
    that they were married
    in a private ceremony
on Sunday the tenth of October
    two thousand and ten

Now my question... with our names do i put my name with my new last name OR do i use my maiden name? (I will be changing my last name to his just incase anyone was wondering)
Also .... what do you think of my daft so far??

OUr days are full and our schedules too

    Two hearts joined in love

united forever in love - could you use something else so it isn't repeated

And yes you use your maiden name in the announcement

I think it is really cute - other than the slight changes

Since it's fairly informal, it might be cute to do Juliette Middle LastName (now NewLastName!).

Aren't your dad and bro going to be mad they're not invited? (from what it sounds like, they were invited to the original wedding in vegas, but not the new one)

    maybe happiness?

I really like the idea.  As long as no one feels slighted.  Our families have been pretty vocal about not being pleased if we didn't have a formal affair.  You and your FI will undoubtedly avoid lots of stress.  And save $$$!

My dad invited himself to Vegas.... i also found out about a month ago he invited his current lady friend to vegas if they are still together at that time... without telling/asking me... that made me mad!

My brother is coming... he is going to be my witness and Craig's brother is going to be our 2nd witness.

1st wedding plan - garden wedding... ya know normal big wedding very expensive... dad started giving his on plans and stuff... wanted to invite his lady friend (who by the way isn't in the picture anymore)

2nd wedding plan - VEGAS BABY... was super excited about that... told my parents, mum couldn't come cuz of money, then dad decided he would come... everytime i saw him he was all like "we'll do this and that and go here and there" *and the whole bring some lady i haven't even met yet*

3rd NOT TELLING ANYONE!!! and i know they won't get mad. but if they do... stuff them LOL

oh and the 1st wedding plan... at first we were like "oh we won't have a reception because we don't have the money" told Craig's mum and she was like "what are people going to eat? no ones going to come if you have no food" i was thinking "are you coming to see us join as one in marriage or are you coming for food?"

Love the secret wedding idea.  You sound most pleased planning this out than the first 2 ideas.  So, I say: You go, girlfriend!  As long as you're happy.  (You realize you're doing this Julia Roberts-style.  She invited people to a "bbq" which turned out to be her wedding.  No drama, all simple, all according to what she wanted.)  Good for you!

@hazel920 We're not inviting people to the actual ceremony (just incase this is what you thought) we're having our ceremony in the morning... then go home do whatever (i'm thinking about taking the boys out for lunch maybe) then get the house ready for the party and be like SURPRISE we're married

*squeals* saw the Celebrant saturday morning! OMG!!! she is so nice and she had garden all set up for a wedding that was happening a few hours after our meeting and it was beautiful, very simple but beautiful! She must spend ALOT of time working on her garden!! I'm so glad we decided on this.
We're also going to do a sand ceremony... $10 extra and she will provide the sand and the heart shaped container thingy. She said after the ceremony there will be bubbly and cheese and crackers, which i think is nice.

OMG why can't it be October now LOL!!!

    Oh i'm so excited!!! :D

    Sounds great!

We were soooo close to doing a surprise wedding (and still may) but we have soooo many logistical problems that I doubt we will. :(  I can't wait to hear more of your plans... the idea made me so excited to plan a wedding, too! And I too have planned more than one in this engagement... UGH!

Oh, so glad to see a fellow eloper! We are deciding how to proceed after canceling our very expensive May 1st Sedona wedding. FI vetoed Vegas, so I am thinking of possibly doing the same as you. Getting married with just a couple of friends present and then having a party when we return from our honeymoon.

    Love your announcements!

I was once a guest at a secret wedding. I was soooo much fun. It was a spy theme. I thought I was going to a graduation party. All of the their engagement pictures were even secret spy theme. The favors were magnifying glasses.

It was the best "wedding" I have ever been to!  The most weird thing about it is that only the family knew the two were even dating!
